'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith resumes battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the dramatic dying seconds of Swansea's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses following the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful effort from outside the box, and the defender promptly slammed home the rebound before sprinting toward the East Stand to celebrate, with supporters mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

This capped an incredible comeback given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 during the second half. During the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory booked a fourth-round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that range," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right flank after they changed tactics. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way his former team approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are very good but even the basics and simple things, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they know how to control and slow down a game. You can feel you're doing well and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It takes a tough attitude and focus just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has rapidly replicated that in his new home. At the London club he linked up again with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a loan at lower division Salford City, before he permanently left his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into senior level. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without much intensity. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that development for his team and nation, shining for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including home and away encounters against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his knack for a killer pass.

Early Days

This represents a remarkable path for the kid from the Queens Park estate in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his father, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

The player's single match for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was shut owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he comments, grinning. "The week before, the academy prospects trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "This turned out quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I felt I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

It is mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, the drivers, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself a teammate, the Brazilian, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on public transport after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
